Challenge Group member Vicki Ross chose the image for our March challenge: an eggplant. Admittedly, at the beginning I drew a blank because I couldn't get passed that jingle we butchered as kids--"Mary, Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow? Silver bells and cocker shells and one damned eggplant."
So after a lot of deliberation and scratching my head (thanks for that bald spot, Vicki), I decided to go with my initial impression--with a twist.
Like our February challenge, members of the group who were able to participate came up with uniquely individual interpretations of "eggplant". Okay, here they are with mine at the end.

What fun! Great work, everyone!
Dianne, I never heard that version of the nursery rhyme! ;-) Anyway, I love these, and I love everyone's take on it. The second still life I ever did was of vegetables in containers, one big eggplant was included. Aboaut time to do another!
These are all exceptional!
I've always thought of eggplant as a sensuous form and that color! Amazing. Everyone did a super job.
I often use these deep, deep purples in place of black. There's so much warmth and the deep dark subtleties draw one in.
Love the different take on the same subject by the different artists. Is that a itty bitty mouse on the eggplant? What a chuckle. :D
We really are having fun with these challenges. So glad you folks are enjoying them.
And yep, Ann, that is an itty bitty mouse on my eggplant. You're the first to mention it.
